I'm thinking abiut geting it. Can I use an external mic from the pair of headphones I'd want to use?

My plan would be to use my Sennheiser HD555's and an extenal mic and plug them in to the mixamp, where then the optical cable goes from the amp to the xbox/ps3? Or could I just use my Trittons with the PC connector?

And before you ask, my Tritton decoder box broke mysteriously, so I'm looking at Astro decoders.

Yes you could use your own headphones. I use the Sennheiser HD595 with a seperate mic, a clip-on mic found at amazon for $15.

I don't have the 5.8 but it's the same functionality as the regular Mixamp.
I live in a constant state of Deja Vu. Didn't I mention this once before?

If you have the Tritton with the multiple speakers in the headphones then you shoudln't use any decoder other than the Tritton with those headphones.
