This topic would make a lot more sense if it was talking about Nintendo and Sony handhelds competing against iOS devices.

Yea because consoles are not nearly as overpriced or as bad hardware wise iphones have some of the highest failure rates alongside launch 360,s

I agree. It's only handhelds that have any kind of competition. And plus why simply include Apple without Android? Android is just as responsible, nowadays.

Still, Nintendo is holding their own in the portable arena. I would say people still want physical buttons and classic methods of game distribution to go along with digital.

I've never met anyone with iphones that had hardware failures. In fact, they've released with even less dead pixels than just about any Sony portable release. (Then again, just about everybody has)

Can Apple survive itself?
iPad 5 128 GB Wifi only Retina Display A6 processor - $799
And the same thing with a data plan - $929

But it can almost anything so people will pay for great hardware.

so then why would they get an Apple product?

I prefer buttons over touch screen gaming, so unless Apple comes out with a competent home console, I don't see them cutting too far into the console sales.

people dont buy ipads\iphones to game. they buy them to be part of the "in crowd" they are paying a premium to be part of the "cool" group

gaming companies have to charge less for hardware to get to more people. the more systems in peoples homes the more software they can sell. thats how they make their money. i dont see apple changing their strategy and i cant see them taking over gaming when gaming is an afterthought for them.

No, iPads are great machines for business related purposes.

Apple doesn't make game systems.

There's a HUGE difference between a real dedicated game system and cellphones/portable media players that play 5 minute games.

Night and day difference.
