So the exact same thing has happened to my last two controllers, one of them brand new, and in a matter of just 3 months time. It's not necessarily drift, but it's just as annoying.

Basically the left analog stick will just randomly be tapped up or down (normally with drift it's left or right, and it lingers). Weird thing is, although probably completely coincidental, that it's been both on black wired controllers. This has never happened on any of my white controllers, wired or not.

Basically is there any way to fix this (non-lingering up and down "drift"). I would rather not have to buy ANOTHER controller, with the possibility of it happening again.

I had that same problem, so I gave the thumb-stick a good beating and it rarely happens now.
