In my opinion, the next Xbox HAS to have backwards compatibility.

This day and age with digital media, it would be a slap in the face knowing that I've spent hundreds on XBLA games only to have it not have the ability to be transferred to the new Xbox. Obviously when the new Xbox comes out, the 360 will slowly start to fade away. There's a big difference between not having BC on disc based games, but losing an entire library of games because it's digital only is insane.

So your purchase of a new system will make your current system impossible to turn on?

I certainly hope we do. I'll live if it doesn't, but I'll be like a boy in a candy store it does

It frees up space and makes less clutter for your TV. Also plenty of people trade in the old system towards the new.

No but unless the 360 will be produced forever, that's a lot of money you're wasting to not have the ability to play it on the newer system.

Honestly, I don't want to draw conclusion until there's official announcements from Microsoft or Sony themselves. About all we have now is a ton of rumors.

I still have my Atari 2600, but I very rarely hook it up. I don't feel like I wasted my money.

Backward compatibility hurts a system - it doesn't help.

I do not want backwards compatibility.

we won't need it to run XBLA games.
