Also - there is some small overlap in the two games' stories (in the DLC), but the L4D series is not one that has an in depth story or needs to be played in chronological order, so you won't be missing out on anything if you play the second game first.

The campaigns are good too, but 2's coop campaign is far superior to the first one's campaign on coop.

2 also has noticeably better graphics. and yes, there are still a lot of people who play them. 2 is more populated though.
