Honestly, I'm not paying for anything. That's what.

If you mean people who are paying for their Gold... uh... I don't know? A more stable, reliable service, that doesn't get hacked to s*** and all users have to worry about their credit card information being stolen? A service that, at most, has gone down for a full day, once in a blue moon, but is rock solid the rest of the time?

That's not to say that I see a point in having to pay for the "Front-end" services (if I'm paying for Netflix, I shouldn't have to also pay to use Gold, that's one thing that has always struck me as a "WTF?")... or that I like seeing adverts floating all over the dashboard... but, I see it as being just like Cable.

You've got "basic" subscription channels (originally "aerial VHF stations" like FOX and ABC)... with plenty of commercials (seven minutes per half hour, on average), crappy programming selections, and major limitations in terms of "channel selection".

Next, you've got "standard" subscription channels, where you have commercial breaks frequently (similar durations to Basic, but some channels have only ONE two or three minute stretch of commercials per half hour program)... and really, it's just an "upgraded" Basic package... but you've at least got plenty of stuff to watch, so the limitations aren't so restrictive. And sometimes they try to encourage you to upgrade to the "premium" subscription service with their advertisements, and with "package deals"... and also by letting you "rent" movies through the "OnDemand" service. You pay the normal fee ON TOP of the fee for renting the movies and shows.

Then you've got "premium" subscription channels where the ONLY commercials you get (and they're not even true commercials) are for upcoming programming ("Coming soon to Cinemax..." followed by three or four short trailers for new shows/movies). You have the widest selection of programs to choose from, and if you have "high tier" packages, you even get new movies before they're on Netflix.

I see PSN as "Basic Cable". Silver LIVE as "Standard Cable", Gold LIVE as "low-tier Premium Cable", and PSN+ as "mid-tier Premium Cable" (because they give you rental games for free... much like the "OnDemand" service).

You get what you pay for... or in some cases, what you DON'T pay for. So I don't see why people are still all: "Why are you paying 60$USD a year for a service, and then extra for the other subscriptions you use!?!". It's all about personal choice... and some people honestly aren't bothered by paying five dollars a month for Gold, and ten more for Netflix.

Heck, when I was into buying movies on DVD, I'd spend that much weekly, on new movies.
