Anybody else notice this?

The fluctuation can be as "little" as 100MB, or as much as 500MB.

The biggest difference is seen in Borderlands 2 and the smallest is in Forza 4.

Forza 4 sees 100MB less than the dashboard does, and Borderlands 2 sees 500MB less than the dashboard does.

Where the HELL is all that space going?

Never really noticed it.

Although that's probably because I know I have roughly 100 GB free and don't really care because I know I'll have enough space to do anything I want.

Oh, just thought of this ... there's also a few files in the system files section of the HDD that can vary in size, like the improvement data thing, video bookmark files, etc.

Perhaps they use more cache than other titles? It's not a seperate partition like the original Xbox so it does eat into the total, but Forza doesn't seem to leave anywhere near 100MB of files in there long-term.
Fixing Turn10's omissions since 2007, and Playground Games' since 2012.

I've got 80.0 GB free on a 320GB drive according to the dashboard.

Forza sees 79.9GB free.

Borderlands 2 sees 79.5GB free.

Other games see varying amounts in between.

Ohhhh, ok.

Like when you select your save, right?

I'm assuming the games use memory to run, idk.

This didn't happen until I got Borderlands 2 and it saw a different amount of space than anything else.
