Happy to say Rayman Legends was one for me. I never really gave Origins much of a thought until 3-4 months after hearing how great it was, and at a very affordable price. Bought it and it became easily one of my top 5 games this gen. Legends was already right around the corner and all I was really hoping for was for it to come close to Origins in overall fun. Turns out, I like Legends even more than Origins. Get those games!

In other choices, I picked up The Last of Us a while after all the critical acclaim and the “this will be on a short list of most important games this entire gen” had been thrown in everybody’s faces. I went into the game expecting to have my socks knocked off and, despite a somewhat slow first couple of hours, by the time the game ended I felt it had lived up to the hype quite nicely.

GTAV, though I haven’t played yet, seems to be a pretty good example of a game that was getting off-the-charts hype from both people who loved AND hated GTAIV, and seems to have done a very good job at making most people happy.

What was yours?
Can someone bum me a sig? I'm fresh out.

Xcom: Enemy Unknown

When I heard they were remaking UFO I creamed my pantaloons, it came out and was like the original, but better.

GTA V and The Last of Us both managed to exceed my already lofty expectations.

No game lives up to it's hype, EVER.

Mostly because hype reaches beyond ridiculous proportions.

If you don't get caught up in the hype in the first place, you can be surprised, not let down.
