It was a manufacturing issue - there was a flaw in the design.

It was a design flaw, my fixed RROD special edition console has been working fine for now three years ever since they fixed it.

Remember the original Xbox is a beast of a console that lasts even today, as long as you have no harddrive problem come up. Somebody was busy screwing around on the design and taking zero pointers from the lessons of making the first machine work so well.

The poor cooling was a design flaw. The **** solder situation was a manufacturing issue. So one of each.

overheating issue that can be prevented by keeping the system in a good spot for air to flow.
