Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

^ One of the best games I've ever played.
It starts out a bit slow, but does pick up quite a bit.
Plus, it has the best representation of Dragons of any game...even better than Skyrim.
Awesome game.

You might also want to check out Dark Souls.
Though it has a very steep learning curve, and the penalty for dying can seem fairly stiff until you get the hang of it's style.
Another great game, but it isn't for everyone.

There is also the Witcher 2.
The game has an interesting and very adult themed story...but I personally found the combat to be very broken and not intuitive at all. But some people love it. Though I would expect you need to like hard-core RPG's to get into it. It requires a lot of pre-planning & thought. You even need to mix potions before fights. It was a mess, imho.
Plus, the inventory & menus are garbage, imho.
But again, some people love it.

Those are some of the best but Dragon's Dogma gets my vote and if you like JRPG games try Final Fantasy 13 series or just the new one Lightning Returns.

The Witcher 2 was amazing, and one of my favorite games this gen. Oblivion was great. Dragon Age: Origins was great too. I'm playing Dragon's Dogma now and it's getting better every time I play it.

Mass Effect was an awesome experience. Then again I think I'm the only one who thinks ME1 was the best in the series.

Fallout 3 is pretty good, as well as New Vegas. If your wanting to try a jrpg Lost Odyssey was good. Borderlands 1 and 2 are fun if your can find a friend to play with. Diablo 3, Dark Souls.
If I had arms, I would try harder.

Loved Witcher 2.
As mentioned the story is very well done, with top notch writing, (voice acting was good but really badly balanced on console). Beautiful set pieces and rich lore.

I personally loved the combat, as it takes some planning (rolling doesn't make you invincible, getting too close with your sword reduces damage because well, you're too damn close lol.)

The potions thing becomes common sense. If you're going into the wilderness, take a health buff.

Another great Action-RPG is Nier. Some people love it, others hate it.
All the side quests are very fetchy, but the story is also very mature and well done with very memorable characters. And the game's story is also a huuuuge downer. If you decide to play it, be prepared to be depressed.
