I am selling my 250gb fat PS3 (the old model with the Spiderman font). I chose the option to restore settings to default, and it told me 14 hours to reformat. On top of that, I only have save data for TWO games on the entire thing. Am I doing something wrong here?

Ha, it took me 39 hours and 31 min to back up my 1tb hdd with 430gb of data and 31 hours and 16min to reinstall that data in my 2tb hdd. Take what you can get. Sony wasn't smart about the ps3 file system at all.

That's pretty normal... It's not the PS3 file system but rather the USB 2.0 speed.

Ahhh... that makes sense. It's only 2.0? That explains a lot.

Even if it was USB 3.0 (impossible since the PS3 was released YEARS before that), the bottleneck would then be the SATA interface. :P Though it would be faster.

I heard the difference between a quick format and a regular one is that a quick format doesn't check sectors for errors which is what consumes most of the time.

Start it after dinner, and it will be done by the time you wake up. No biggie.
PSN #1: Nicodimus - Dragon's Dogma Pawn: Kaylee (Fighter)
