Don't get me wrong, I love JRPG's, but sometimes they can get a bit freaky.

Star Ocean the last hope had the most atrocious story, longest cutscenes, emphasis on girls with big boobs, emo annoying main character, and faize x lymle or w/e is totally illegal lol.

Tales of Graces F wasn't that bad, its flaw was with its constant reminder of friendship will trump all!

These cliches seem really childish despite the sexual innuendos they have. Same thing with their animes too. But right now I need a good JRPG to pass the winter while waiting for the spring semester. I'm considering valkyria chronicles atm though. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Completely without any cliche? None. You'll find at least one cliche in any JRPG, even the one that you're now considering.

Resonance of Fate is a good one. Also, you could import Tales of Vesperia which is in my opinion the best JRPG for PS3. Valkyria Chronicles is an excellent game, but not really for the story.

This seriously. Nothing is original. People really need to get over this cliche nonsense. Everything in life is cliche including people. However, it's hard you use those cliches that make a game interesting. I'll take a game that make good use of their cliches over something that tries too hard.

Vagrant Story maybe?

But seriously, you aren't going to find any RPG without cliches.
Polite conversation should never include Politics, Religion or what constitutes an RPG.
Playing a game for it's story is like watching porn for it's story.
