If I were to download, say, Final Fantasy 9 (a playstation one game,) from the PSN, what kind of graphical quality are we talking about? Is it at least as good as if I were to put a game disc into the ps2 and choose the upgrade settings that smooth out older games?

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks in advance.

I think there is a smoothing option but the difference is minimal. It's still going to look like a game from ten years ago.

(That's not to say that it won't be fun, but the world map just looks terrible...)
Now Playing: ZOE HD, Okami.

Yeah, the world map was grainy as hell even by the standards back then, too.

We are talking about a little smoother PS1 graphics, if you turn the PS3's smoothing on.

My problem is that I'm wanting to some of my old playstation one games, however the component cables will not play psone games on my LED tv (on a ps2.) I also don't have a port for s-video. It's either composite cables or nothing. It looks horrendous.

So I'm trying to decide if I should just download some off of PSN.

Any other pros/cons I should know about?

Hook your ps3 up to a CRT SDTV problem solved.

Yeah I don't have one just lying around. I honestly didn't foresee this problem. It's bizarre to me that playstation one games wont work with component on my tv...but ps2 games will on the same console.

Indeed, but I want to play the best version I can.
