I know they have really nothing to do with each other in terms of story. So my question is, is it worth playing Demon's Souls at this point in time or should i just jump into Dark Souls? I haven't played either game.

They're both very similar. I liked Demon's Souls a little more.

Since both games still have very active servers I would start with Demon's Souls.

The levels and world are less overwhelming in Demon's Souls and the difficulty is more manageable in some ways thanks to those smaller worlds (i.e. more easy to memorize)

By the time you beat Demon's Souls you'll be addicted hopefully and ready for Dark Souls.

Over all, DS was more enjoyable thank DkS. In terms of difficulty, DkS is easier, there are a lot of save points. It also has way more magic, so if you like to play magic casters, go for DkS first. If on the other hand you like melee, then try DS first. Farming for rare items it's still a grind for both tho.

They're both similar and unique in their own ways. So playing demon's souls, you won't feel like the it's made before dark souls or that it's lacking.
Got it Memorized?

probably should just skip Demon Souls.

Dark Souls is less cheap with its death mechanic
Dark Souls has a better (read: less dramatic) learning curve
Dark Souls has better overall narrative and design

The first 2 reasons are the biggest ones that will make you stick with it longer.

I think Demon is much better than Dark but they are both great. I like the way you can shoose levels in DS and I have only played 6 hours of Dark but it just make me miss DS

Sounds like i should play both. Are the servers for Demon's Souls still up. I remember hearing that they would be taken down for some reason. I may have heard wrong.
