In old games they were banished... until the next game.
Today's games they're killed, dead, no return.
Easy difference.
I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.

Yeah I'll go with Handsome Jack. But I notice looking at my collection that I have a lot of games without a specific main bad guy, like Dark Souls or Resistance, where it's more about the threat overall, than an actual antagonist. Which is okay with me, since I like those stories.

I think you're just referring to Legend of Zelda or Mega Man.

There were many memorable villains that didn't come back in previous generations

I think Grigori is probably the most memorable villain of recent memory.

No joke. I have no idea who Grigori is.

And as mentioned already, Handsome Jack and Vaas.

Then you probably haven't played Dragon's Dogma.

For me its Ocelot.

I agree. He's the first one I thought of recently. Yes, villains in games these days are so bad and/or uninteresting.

I finished Dogma twice and don't even remember Grigori until someone mentioned who it was.

He is not menacing or a good villain at all.

No, Dragon's Dogma passed me by. I have heard of Dark Arisen so will buy that.

I have a policy to never buy a launch Capcom game now, I'll wait for the "Super" ,"Arcade" or "Special" edition.
