Gameplay is dated and often lacks engagement. Stories use serious subject matter but with shallow execution. Melodrama seems disjointed at times.

They're hit and miss. And some are just very niche games and are a love or hate sort of thing, I can understand my liking them.

For every gem like Persona 4, Xenoblade Chronicles or Ni No Kuni there are a hundred more Enchanted Arms, Hyperdimension Neptunia or White Knight Chronicles.

People have different tastes? It's pretty simple.

Just got done playing Tales of Graces for three hours after a long break, and I haven't had this much fun in a long time.

It's not something you understand, it's something you feel and experience.

Personally, I think all games should be taken as individual products. IE, The Last Story is far from your typical JRPG, just like Mass Effect is far from you typical RPG in general.

Also there is no 1 genre with the majority of the games being top tier games.
