i never said gameplay is the most important and im pretty sure neither did the majority of other people in this topic.

oh wait that was ONE group of evil people who the majority of the world opposed.
visual novels are pretty much proof a game can be 99.9% story with the only gameplay being a few choices. and there are alot of very popular visual novels.
and finally even IF gameplay was the MOST important element, it isnt the ONLY element so there are plenty of situations where gameplay was improved slightly in a sequel but everything else became trash and thus the game became trash. e.g. dragon age 2 had slightly better gameplay but worse everything else so was still worse than DA 1.
