There's this ongoing frenzy for the new consoles, which will offer a higher level of graphics. On this board, many PC crusaders who have been trying to rescue console gamers from the horrid of outdated graphics. What level of graphics is really good enough for today?

As long as it has graphics as good as a PS2 game, I am fine with it.

I don't consider myself a graphics whore but I find myself wondering why someone would not want better graphics...

Less data spent on graphics the more they can spend on everything else.
I still don't believe most people on gamefaqs are even gamers. Just assuming they are embodiments of hate and stupidity taking digital form.

I was pretty satisfied with PS2 level graphics and didn't want to upgrade to HDTV. I still don't see the reason why we had to go with this whole HD nonsense this gen. I just hope they won't come up with some new ridiculous gimmick next gen.

It doesn't matter, as long as the Definition is high. Even 8-bit graphics look good in HD.

If I absolutely had to choose though, I think I'd be fine with very late PS1 Era graphics, or late PS2 era graphics, with the stipulation they were done in HD. I don't want any fuzzyness or distortion.
If you're not going to share with the entire class, then don't bother sharing at all.
Online is the worst thing to happen to gaming.

At least next gen isn't going all 4K on us yet. I only just started gaming on an HDTV last year.

Personally I'm totally fine with last gen graphics as long as the gameplay and story are making up for it. If standards weren't so high we'd be seeing a lot more good games coming out of Japan. Deadly Premonition is one of the best games I've played this gen and it's practically an HD PS2 game.
