I found a super slim for cheap and wondering if I can use my 500 gig fatty hardrive in it, also will it reformat the hardrive so I have to loose everything? Or will all my games , music apps, music all be there?

It will definitely format it. PS3s automatically format HDDS when you put them in. Only way to keep your stuff is to do a back up/restore or to do a data transfer.
