Glad DmC shipped a million copies and was a success. Supporting risk-takers and change is how the industry grows.

Yeah, absolutely late 2009. Bought mine when MGS4 came out
'Come fight beside me,' I said to myself, and although it doesn't make sense, I held my own hand as a small sign of trust, and together I made my defense.

there was this huge flood of games for the PS3 during that time, then continued on to 2010. it was smooth sailing ever since.

Never really. I bought the first slim when it came out, kept it maybe a year or so. Don't really know anyone who owns one that isn't a diehard Sony fan.

The sales are likely just PS2 fanbase remnants, well, the ones who didn't just buy it because it was a DVD player. Sony's relevancy began and ended with the PS1, though I still adore my PSP.
Warning: My opinions are mod-able.

Because DVD.

Xbox came too late with it and required a separate purchase, by then everyone had a DVD player who wanted it.

That certainly explains the near monopoly the PS2 had.

You've got DVDs and movies on the brain. They've got boards for those.
