I've ignored 1-6 because the series was fairly consistent up to the point and didn't do anything dramatic that would polarize fans or cause great outrate

Anyone who votes FF9 is gonna have to fight me.

Hm, I'd say 10-2. Not because I didn't enjoy it, but because it's what started the unnecessary sequel nonsense the series has gotten trapped in since.

The series isn't dead, they've always been varying in quality.

FF13

Worst battle system in an action adventure / RPG I've ever played and the longest, most boring lineair game I know of.
Keeping the Lightning saga alive for three volumes really put gamers off, shown by the significantly lower sales both sequels had compared to the previous game.

7 and not because I'm a hipster. 14 was actually fun and 15 looks promising. However there will always be those who thinks its bad because its not FF7.
My sig will never happen, but it would be awesome if it did.

I think the MMO marked the first major change, it's like they just didn't care about keeping the traditional style of FF anymore.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you saying FF7 did irreparable damage to the franchise because it is too well liked?

Final Fantasy doesn't succeed anywhere near as well as a series without FF7. How anyone can think that damaged the series is beyond me.
