You might not be able to save in a tutorial game. And then again it IS a tutorial, shouldn't learning how to save be part of it? >_>

You can't save in the tutorial game. I played it for a couple hours when I first got the game, and thought I was going crazy or something. Just play it until you've got a relatively decent grasp of what's going on, and then just get your feet wet in an actual game. If you put the AI on one of the lower difficulties, then it will be so god awful that even someone new shouldn't have too many issues.
