My graphics card sucks, but that shouldn't make the text completely illegible. Right? I installed the game, started it up without any problems and then came to the main menu to find that I could read absolutely nothing. It's completely unreadable. However, if I start up a game, I can read the name of the city my settlers start perfectly fine. Should I try to reinstall the game? Is anyone else having a similar problem?

I just downloaded the demo and am having the exact same problem. I can't read any of the menu text, and when I launch the single player I can't read some of the letters for the exposition, and the text on the menus/HUD/everything is illegible.

I honestly have no idea what to do, hopefully someone has solved this.

Sorry for the double post, but here's a screenshot of my (our?) problem.

As you can see, the text is...A mess.

Yes, that's exactly what it looks like! I just took some screenshots myself, too, so I'll add mine.

just try stuff, that is probably is not likely to fix it, but it's worth a shot.

update graphics drivers?
change resolution?
is it running in Dx9 or 10?

I brought this to attention on the Steam thread as well, and if you have an integrated graphics card like I do, then we might just not be able to play this game...Someone else was having the same problem, and none of the proposed solutions (updating chipset, trying Directx10 and 9 modes, and switching from fullscreen to windowed) did anything at all.
Gosh darn it.

What? That can't be the final answer, that's just simply unacceptable. I've just lost a bit of respect for Firaxis games. But you know, it's still redeemable if they fix this for you guys in the next patch.

I, most unfortunately, have an Intel 965 Integrated chipset.

And yeah, it's a really weird error and I'm hoping that it's either a problem with only the demo or something that will be patched/resolved. I really want to play this game.

I just started a new thread on the same topic. I've got the Intel G965 Express Chipset Family, but I hope I'm not completely screwed. My computer's not old, and although I didn't buy it for games, I can't accept Civ of all games to be unplayable.
