Actually I'm pretty sure if you were to go to a meeting of mathematicians with that formula, they'd be able to tell you that it's already a formula (and possibly even just a THEORY) in real life, and that Sephiroth didn't create it. I'm sure it has something to do with space and physics, but I couldn't tell you for the life of me what it all means.

Sephiroth - Physics.
Jecht - PE.
Exdeath - Philosophy.
Emperor - Psychology.
Kuja - Religious Studies.
Kefka - Drama.

Clearly they're forming a school...
We're at an impasse here. Maybe we should compromise?

... and a military school, methinks:

Firion - Weapons training
Squall - Military Science and Leadership
Tidus - Team sports
Cloud - Combatives
Zidane - Deceptive tactics

Being serious, though, the symbols I see as most familiar in the EX Burst sewuence are sigma (sidewards M), =, the sine symbol (sin) psi, and theta.

In math, sin and theta have to do with trigonometry, and sigma is the symbol for summation. So yes, pretty much, and this is from someone who's never played FFVII, this has to do with calculations and/or the spell he uses to do Supernova.

Just a guess, of course.

The calculations are kinda scary if you think about it, considering he's going to destroy the Solar System with it.

Six hours of Math. More than enough to kill anything that moves.

In the original FFVII supernova animation, I remember seeing the Maxwell equations somewhere.

Now we'll know what to write down if we ever get a physics question on meteors hitting the Sun.

There's a slight problem. Supernova is only supposed to be an illusion. So maybe its a formula to make the guy hallucinate that a giant rock is about to smash into his face.
