I got the 80 gig with MGS4, and I really want to get this trilogy 'cause its only 20 bucks at gamestop, but I don't know if I'll actually be able to play them through or not. I hear some people have no problems, and some have serious game crashing errors. Sony's compatibility site says that newer firmware editions should've resolved some of these issues, and I was wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that.

The only way to find out is to buy it and try them out yourself. If a friend has the trilogy, you could ask them to lend it to you to see if it works on your PS3. It should work because you have a backwards compatible PS3. Just remember to download that PS2 stuff from the PSStore.
