On Penny you just want to get your COPs up as fast as you possibly can because without a D2D stat boost she's strictly worse than almost every other CO

And Isabella's COP is why she's top tier - you want that in play ASAP. It wins games.

Yes, exactly, but if you were to charge their COP with a COU M-Tank, you put it at risk of getting destroyed on the enemy turn, no?

Random weather isn't played because the randomisation is completely bonkers in DoR.

I actually like DoR's bonkers weather. It throws a wrench in most plans and does indeed make things more random. I do consider it more for personal games with a familiar group for that reason.

Don't leave COU undefended. Unless they're Tabitha or Waylon and get a huge Defrnse biost, but even then...

Sure, but it's a risk/reward thing.

You want a COP, you need to risk potentially losing your CO. The other player can (and will likely!) do the same thing.

Oy, this topic is still alive. Well in that case... got a little question.

Regarding Gage on land maps with no ports, what's the consensus regarding having him CO an anti-tank(something the AI seems to love, I believe IIRC)?

I seem to recall that anti-tanks are generally considered crappy units(from a cost-effectiveness standpoint, and I somewhat agree), but, in Gage's case, these things are:

- Immensely durable for an indirect unit. Very helpful because you don't want your COU getting blown to bits easily unless you're Forsythe or Caulder, who wouldn't care
- As an indirect, gets properly boosted by Gage's zone unlike COing a tank
- Can counterattack direct units, which can also be used to push up the COP meter
- As an indirect, would stay near other indirects to boost them, as opposed to a tank which would likely be doing its own thing away from most indirects. Because of the aforementioned durability and counterattack capability, could also accompany directs in sorties with looser protection to charge COP meter, with less fear of retaliation

Only thing you'd have to worry about would be a bunch of mechs and bikes cornering the COU anti-tank, perhaps, since all other counters turn out to be more expensive than the anti-tank itself. Probably would be a bad idea against Will or Isabella who can boost mech movement with their COPs, but isn't it quite viable for any other matchup?

Of course, widespread use of the things would be detrimental when simple Artys do most of the same roles with barely above half-price. So, just have two of them at any given time, no more; one for the COU, the other to join with the former if HP gets dicey, replace right after joining. Indirect duties mainly taken care of by Artys, of course.

Mainly asking this because, unless the CO is a 'generalist' CO who doesn't specialize in unit boosts(Forsythe, Brenner, etc.), COing a unit that isn't said CO's specialty seems so... anathema. A waste of potential, you might say. Of course, despite seemingly running counter to common-sense Gage might still prefer COing a tank instead of an anti-tank, but just wanted to make sure.

The awkward factoring of COing an AT is that you shouldn't do it early unless it was a big map or have high production rates. Early on players will be spamming infantry along cheap tanks and recons which are economical counters to the AT.
