Quick correction: beat mission 9 previously, not 10. I did just finish 10 this morning, though. Somehow, I managed to get an A rank on it. I mean, max points for power didn't surprise me since I destroyed all the enemies and lots of them, but I got high marks on technique, too, and despite taking 27 days to beat the mission (as I said, took out lots of enemy units. And he took out a lot of my guys, too), I got a decent speed score (67 points). Might have won sooner if I'd built more tanks and such rather than bombers. Go for quantity over quality if you will. But I was out-producing him, so it was just a matter of time before I wore him down and won. So, another one down, onward we go. Looks like The Beast is no more, so we get to deal with the Main Villain now.

So you ignore this point I made in an earlier post:
Power is based on the average damage per attack with a kill counting as +100% damage

Interesting.

Right. The score isn't based on just killing things, but if I've wiped out the enemy and killed lots of them, I've been doing a lot of damage.

Meanwhile, mission 11, I got rather poor marks for power. I suspect this is in part because I actually won because yellow team captured the capitol. Enemy was down to an APC, gunboat and 1 infantry, so I took out most of their units, so was doing some damage. And while the gunboats were doing pretty good average damage, the land units were chipping away more. Did get high marks for speed and technique, though, and a B rank overall. Frankly, I started off poorly not utilizing boats well the first couple of rounds and towards the end, I was afraid I might not have enough stuff to take out their units, so was looking into capturing the capitol myself, or having to do the mission over. But, we were ultimately successful and now we get naval units to play with. And find out there's some big war going on, but nobody thought to tell us until just now.

It will once I turn the sound on. :)

So had my first failed mission. Did not use my ships very effectively in mission 12 and lost horribly. Second attempt, though, I passed with flying colors. A rank and max points in speed and power. I understand the APCs to build temporary ports to re-supply/repair the boats, but I don't understand why they gave us a lander. Unless an APC can go on it and the idea was setting up a port on the opposite side of the map or something. I found it a lot easier just to wipe out the enemy and be done with it. Anyway, minor setback having to do this one twice, but we're moving onward now.

BTW, Days of Ruin's idea of game design:

"Congratulations. You beat an air specialist on a map where there were only navy units and there was no involvement of CO abilities anyway. You may now use said air specialist."

We have here a GOTY deserving a 10/10 3deep5me, folks!

Couple more missions done. Beat #13 as well as trial mission #10 I think it was. #13 went well. A rank. Mid-battle rules reminded me of Glitz Pit in Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. Like that game, most of the rules weren't too bad/hard to abide by (especially since this game forces you to follow them). First couple, my gunboats were out of commission for a round. Minor inconvenience, but I was using mostly other naval units anyway. Did lose the use of my battleships for one round, and that was more annoying, but at that point, I'd already conquered the seas and was using the battleships just to bombard ground units. But once I controlled the sea, the rest was pretty easy.

Trial #10 was a bit drawn out, but still got an A rank on that, too. Was mostly a matter of quickly taking neutral cities to build up some cash, then get some tanks and such over to stop him from taking more cities, then just out-producing him.

So we've started Mission 14. Just a couple days in, so can't really say things are going well or poorly yet. Did clear the meteor to get to the airport, but have left the others in place. He's got the better navy, so have to be careful with that. Otherwise, we'll see how things go.

No need to destroy that meteor blocking airport. Just have infantry go around. This mission is incredibly annoying. Just try to capture the east side soon enough. Keep an anti air or two near the bottom in case a sea plane flows around. The naval side isn’t too big a deal. Be sure to destroy the middle meteors asap as well to avoid clog ups. This be a long battle.
