should be a recruitable character.

i owned this game since it came out on snes. after all these years, that continues to bother me. the events could still play out, even if she is in the party for a small period of time.

If this game were to ever receive a proper sequel (which they've had years upon years to try to create), then that would be a good potential feature. Unfortunately, there doesn't even appear to be any partial interest from Square/Enix in regards to revisiting this particular franchise (and with the "Chrono Trigger 3D" fan-remake killed off, I highly doubt that they would find it necessary to do so, anyway) and re-releasing Chrono Cross or at least creating a sequel that somehow better explains how the timeline of CC ended up so warped & maligned in the first place. :/

I think there's a hack in progress where Schala will be the alternative choice to Magus, though personally, this was my favorite schoolyard rumor: https://web.archive.org/web/20000311052429/http://geocities.com/TimesSquare/Stadium/5694/CT/secrets.html
Whoever started using the word "canon" in this context, anyway?

Back years ago, there used to be this "cheat" on Gamesages.com (IGN). (It has since been taken down)

Basically, it involved running away from Queen Zeal and Lavos at the Ocean Palace disaster (the same scene where Crono dies), and then staying and fighting them on a New Game +. Or maybe it was the other way around. I don't remember. Anyway, after that, you could supposedly find Schala alone on an island crying, where she would ask to join you.

Obviously, you can't run away from that event, but that didn't stop me from trying. I sure was pissed when I found out it was just a bunch of bull.

The weird thing is, I've seen a couple people on forums claim they had the same thing happen on their game (or claim they knew someone who had it on their game), except in at least one of those instances she showed up at the End of Time and not an island in the Dark Ages.

They're all lying a******s, of course. But it does kinda make you wish that that "hacked cart that no one ever bothered to put on the internet" actually existed.

She's supposed to be a tragic character, so it just wouldn't make sense to have her as a recruitable.

There are those whose time is due for steep decline. If you can't find the spot where their time stops, just ask who built the clocks.

i agree she is tragic, but she shocks me because really the story greatly revolves her. it sort of reminds me of alma beoulve who joins at the last battle, etc.
