I"m fairly new to the game and I just bought the $10 package to buy a champion. I need some help picking which champion would fit my playstyle. I like high attack/high defense who I can melee with and tear through the center lane. Also something that isn't too high in difficulty cause i'm still learning the game. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well most melee mids would be difficult,Garen sounds good for you though.
Not necessarily a center lane guy, guess he can at low levels if your opponets are equally as low.
Be careful of level 30 people playing on new accounts, dubbed "Smurfing" they'll easily stomp you and may make it unfun for a little while.

Olaf definatly comes to mind. He is not currently a viable pick in middle lane, and most people will try and convince you not to take him there. If melee high def champs are your thing, maybe you are a top lane player.

Check out Olaf, Shyvanna, Wukong, or maybe even something like Irelia. They all have varrying skill ceilings, but Olaf would definitely be where I would start.

Try free week champions until you get the hang of it. There are a lot of bruisers that might fit your style. Usually tanky champions go into the jungle or top lane though at low levels there probably won't be a jungler, and it'll be two people in top lane.

Garen is super easy to learn (also very cheap IP-wise) and fits the bill but don't use RP on him. If you want a super badass Olaf is in the highest tier. Wukong is free right now that you can try right now. When you center lane you mean someone that can just jump in and start attacking right? If you're talking about a character like that for mid I wouldn't know what to say.

if you want a tanky terror, and still want to play mid lane, take up Cho'Gath

Wukong, Xin and Jarvan are probably the best bruiser mids right now
