Is it optimal to get both?
I usually go Muramana first but sometimes I feel like I should get the second tear.
I'm the best player here. The rest of you aren't as good as me-ninja1357

Game should be over before both have full stacks, So im going with no not optimal.

Ryze needs more defense. Ryze only takes tear because of how much damage it gives him for such a small cost.

All I'll say is, normally when I play Ryze mid, so long as I get every blue buff starting with the second. I can have my first tear filled up by about the 18-21 minute mark. Buying another tear and filling that one up will be much easier than the first because your mana pool will be so much larger compared to the beginning of the game. I'd say you could fill up another tear and have both items around the 35 minute mark realistically. If not by the 30 minute mark.

You can, but one of the reason's Ryze is so good is that he can build defensively and still do crap tons of damage. By rushing through what is essentially two offensive items (Have to get one stacked in order to start the other), you are really delaying the tankiness part of Ryze, which is what makes him very dangerous.

Well, all you'd do is get the first tear... Finish RoA while tear charges. Fill up tear, get another... beep boop. Have a Muramana, RoA, and another tear...
