Topic.

All the time people refer to champs as either ranged or mages when neither of the champs in question are melee champs.

Is it just the fact that their kit uses 'magic' or is it more based on them using abilities over auto-attacks?

There are melee mages and ranged mages. Its about their auto attacks.

by ranged they nornally mean ranged ad carries. but in a melee lane, a ranged is anybody with autoattack higher than 250 so mages included.
Why is it called 'common sense' when it is so rare these days?
