Although, it may say 1080p, that doesn't mean it's the native resolution, but that it will be upscaled from 720p to 1080p if your tv can play at 1080.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that the resolutions will be the same as the GTA Episodes (as its running the same engine with minor tweaks).

The native resolutions were...

Xbox: 720p with 2x multisampling anti-aliasing
PS3: 1152x640 (sub HD) with 2x Quincunx (the blurring effect).

Be worth keeping an eye on Digital Foundry for a proper breakdown as they do it scientifically rather than "some bloke said"....

Also, resolutions aren't everything if frame rates are crap.

In GTA Episodes, the PS3 ran about 6 - 8 fps lower than the xbox. Typically, the xbox ran between 30 - 32 fps; the ps3 anything from 24 to 28 fps average.

Obviously, the higher the better.

Although it states 720p, 1080i, 1080p as supported resolutions, they are just SUPPORTED resolutions. Assuming the native resolution is at 720p (I'm guessing this is what it will be), you guys that have a nice 1080p tv running the game at 1080p resolution will actually lose quality due to the native resolution of the game (720p) being scaled up to a larger size (1080p). Hope this helps.

If you look at it and can't tell the difference.....probably best not to worry so much about a couple of numbers.

@skytwin -- I highly doubt they'd spend a few years tweaking the engine and not optimise it better for PS3. Rockstar isn't lazy.

@popping4it -- So, you're saying the dev team was lazy and threw together a shoddy product? I highly doubt it.

I'm talking about the GTA Episodes, not GTAIV. The engine was changed since GTAIV, The Ballard of Gay Tony producing the best results (as it was the later version).

I'd 99% be certain that we'll see the same results.

It's not a case of "Rockstar being lazy" it's a case of certain engines working better on certain platforms. We see it all the time with Xbox and PS3 comparisons, 9 times out of 10, the xbox performs better as its doesn't have the bottleneck in the GPU memory (so, in games like this, where graphics data is being streamed, higher gpu memory is a good thing).
