i'm pretty early in the story, so my best is the cattleman revolver, and winchester repeater. It's my favourite combination like now, it feels like a true old western setup.

On a side note, which would do you think is better? The first springfield rifle, or The Winchester?

Schfield Revolver. For the looks. not that bad either.
I like the Winfield Repeater. I'm in Mexico and did all the missions for Landon. Don't know when I'll find a new weapons.

best revolver is the double action one I think but Ill stick to the high power pistol. best repeater is by far the evans repeater since nothing can beat the 22 ammo count. its perfect for dead eye lvl 3. you can easily kill a whole camp with one dead eye session.

Pistol/Revolver: Either the LeMat Revolver, or the High Powered Pistol
Repeater/Rifle: The Evans Repeater, or the Bolt Action Rifle.

I am really suprised that people like the high power pistol so much, given that you can get the Mauser at the same time, which is by FAR the best automatic. Hell, it can turn into a machine gun, has a huge ammo capacity, and good power. Aside from looks, why would you ever choose the high power?(I find the mauser to be more fitting lookwise as well).

On revolvers, I gotta go with the Double action, ROF > Ammo capacity for me, since you always have repeaters for more ammo capacity.

From repeaters, Henry is clearly the best. The last repeater trades damage for ammo, and you don't really need more ammo capacity for repeaters. Bolt action Rifle is still the best rifle tho, simply because 1 hit kills to 2 hit kills is a major difference in long range combat.

With repeaters and revolvers, since I reload frequently after firing, ammo capacity isn't such a big deal for me. As such I prefer the Henry (for it's greater power over the Evans) and the Double Action (for it's higher rate of fire over the LeMat).
