I'm at Mahogany Town and lack a good water type, and a physical one would balance out my party physical/special wise. Feraligatr's not really an option, as my WiFi's down and don't have one in any other game, and while Gyarados is an option, I was hoping to SR for a good Red Gyarados and EV train him later.

Do I have any other physical options, or will I be stuck with Gyarados?

Kingler. It may be slow but it's got power, defense, and can learn swords dance. Crabhammer is a great STAB water physical.

Most of the water types lack any physical water moves besides Waterfall, making them useless until you get waterfall.

It would be a waste of time to train a physical water type before you get waterfall.

Seeing as he's already in Mahogany Town, he's close enough to getting it anyway.

I'm not worried about not getting Waterfall as I'm well used to having to wait for useful moves or evolution before a Pokémon will become useful.

I think I'm leaning towards Gyarados, especially since he learns ice moves that'll wreck Lance and help against Clair.

Waterfall is literally 100 steps away from Mahogony town, it's in the Ice Path.

pretty much everything I listed also gets an Ice Attack, and better than Ice Fang.
