Well, now that I think about it, I don't remember being the case that much. Usually, teammates protect the holder until a certain point and return to the middle area and continue the gunfights. When it is the case, however, it's easily avoided by not being foolish and having everyone go with the holder.(in the large levels, at least. in the small levels the best gunfighting team is rewarded with an easier chance at the ASE--perfectly reasonable to me)
So, three things: a) play smarter defense, b) be more advantageous, offensively, and c) maybe a 5-10 second respawn.
