I have yet to find a concrete answer to this question. I have added my friends to my game through the Pal Pad; I have played with my friends via Nintendo WFC; I have added them as friends on my Pokémon Trainer account on Pokemon.com; I have made my account viewable to "Everyone"; and I have verified that my friends are listed as friends on my Pokemon-GL account.
Alas, regardless of all of this, I have no idea how to find my friends inside the Dream World. Random strangers have vistited my house and I've made friends with a couple of them, but I cannot find out how to add my actual friends to my Dream Pal map. Am I missing a step somewhere? Or is this just not possible?
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I've been doing the same thing and nobody seems to know.
<rant> How can Nintendo promote connectivity but have no way of actually connecting with your family and friends? I mean, what's the point of Friend Codes and Game Sync if it doesn't translate over to Global Link? Connecting with random people across the globe is cool, but being able to play with my friends is better, don't you think? </rant>
Sent an e-mail to Nintendo regarding this issue. Here's what they said:
Nintendo said... "At this time, there is no available search function to find Game Pals in the Dream World. However, we know this is a popular request and we have reviewed and recorded each one to pass along! Keep in mind, though, multiple requests will not help expedite these requests, but your enthusiasm is appreciated."
So, for the time being, there is no way to find your friends in the Dream World. Brilliant.
