He takes no damage from a Geth Rocket Trooper missile and Geth Trooper fire. At 14 seconds you can see his shields regenerate while still taking fire, proving its invincibility frames and not very high DR. He also clearly doesn't have the charge DR active, further proving its not DR combined between the two abilities..
As for the tips. I guess they can be useful, but it doesn't seem to give much room for team buffing. Now it is fine to pick a class just because, but he rather looks like a character that does nothing better than those that are already proficient at it.
He's not really to be played as your standard Volus. The Protector's SB is more for his own survival than the rest of the teams.
And yeah, he's definitely outclassed by some other Vanguards, but he's still fun to use and not even the worst one IMO. He plays very differently to the others and the risk/reward is much, much higher.
He's worth trying again though. Try tweaking my build to find one that fits. 6/6/6/4/4 maybe, or take Bonus Power for the Charge rank 6, so you have the chance to Charge and immediately SB.
the best way to play a VV is to not spec into shield boost at all. mak orbs for cooldown and never shoot them. equip a light smg, with incendiary rounds.SUPER IM PORTANT you are not trying for weapon dmg, only trying to light people on fire to set up fire explosions when you chrge into them every 2.1 seconds. anything with recharge is good on him gear, equipment whatever. you should always be charging. this play style is risky but brutal especially if you a have a hurricane and/or light multiple enemies on fire close enough together that your charge hits all 3 of them. splash fire dmg FTW (i know i cant spell and am too lazy to fix it)
