I don't see how that makes things easier to control. One thumb will be lower than the other when playing and that doesn't feel right.

The slide pad is, at least, on level with the buttons.

Perhaps this will influence devs to make more use of the slide pad than the d-pad, or use the d-pad for weapon swapping or something.

Regardless, kudos for pretty much forcing devs to take advantage of the tech on hand.

Actually it looks like the buttons are on the same level as the slide pad.

They want you to use the slide pad so it is in place where the normal control pad should be. Makes sense.
New Zelda + new Kirby + new Donkey Kong Country + 3DS + new Kid Icarus + everything else Nintendo announced = PURE EPIC WIN!!!

I'm slightly disappointed by it only having 1 stick. Oh well, hopefully the shoulder buttons don't fail like my DS and DS lite's did.
For great justice take off every 'MOD'.

360 controllers do that and most people don't have a problem with it.

Don't act like you're speaking for everybody else.

The proper phrase is "couldn't care less". "Could care less" means you care.

Because with the 3D element, games will much likely be based on a more open world level. Meaning you won't be restricted to going left right up or down so they want you to be able to use something that will allow you to control your character in game with ease and comfort which in this case, is the Analog Stick. Which they chose to place on level with the ABXY buttons.

My question is, why did they put the slide pad on top of the control pad? Why didn't they put one on the other side, so first person games could realistically be played without using the touch screen?
