Console companies sell their consoles at a loss. They intend to get revenues from the games themselves. That's why the DS is far more successful than the PSP in terms of revenue.

Sales for PSP w/o sales for PSP games would be a loss for sony. I'm a PSP owner but I mostly use it to read ebooks an do multimedia as there are only a handful of good games on it.

If I were sony, then yes, there is no way I wouldn't be checking out how to add a 3d screen to the psp2, the only problem is that Sony has got on it's high horse, talking about how they have the "real 3D" solution with there ps3 3d support, and to add glasses less tech to the next psp would be an admittance that they were wrong about this, but they said the same thing about wiimotes, and now they have move, and since the psp2 has yet to see the light of day, they could do it now and no one would be the wiser. Besides Sony is trying to hop on the 3d bandwagon anyways, so why not.

Sony copied everything so if the 3DS features are a success, you bet they're gonna try to imitate it and top it better whether it's successful or not.
