They aren't stretched, they are actually the proper resolution. But resolution on a monitor =/= real life sizes.
R.I.P Team Fortress 2 updates on the Xbox 360.

if the ones you are talking about are the ones in the featured games page then they are extremely stretched. Even if it is that size the psp dont have nearly as good graphics as the 3ds. I mean look at kid icarus, resident evil and metal gear solid. Kid icarus will look wii ish AT LAUNCH!

No they're not extremely stretched. Official specs say that the top screen is 3.53 inches. I just used a ruler to measure the screen in the "featured titles" area and the "Nintendo titles" area.

In the "featured titles" area the screen measured out to be 3.75. That's only 1/4 inch stretched.

In the "Nintendo titles" area the screen measured out to be 3.37. That's actually slightly compressed.

I tested this on two different monitors that are different sizes and I got the same results.

The proper phrase is "couldn't care less". "Could care less" means you care.

Seems that someone hasn't heard of DPI...

Hate to break it to ya, but not all screens have the exact same size pixels.

Example:
http://e3.nintendo.com/images/ctr/games/mgseater/ss1.png

If you view that in MSpaint or a similar program and use a selection tool around the screenshot, you'll see it's exactly the 3DS resolution - 400x240. That plus PNG compression means it's pretty much exactly what you'd see on an actual 3DS.

Measuring in inches is actually far more accurate than measuring in pixels in this case.
