I gotta be honest, I'm only posting here because I know some of you have the GBA SP2.

I can buy one in great condition with box for $85 today, to me it's the ideal machine for playing GBC games. On ebay they're even more expensive, it must be pretty rare.

I prefer playing a game like the Zelda Oracle games or Wario Land 3 on a backlight screen with the original game intact.

Opinions?

I'd get both. For the most part they play totally different libraries. The SP is great for classics, and the 3DS will be great for new games. It's a win-win. Get the SP when you find a good deal, and get the 3DS whenever it's convenient since it's in stores and not going anywhere any time soon.

I agree with the above, I also have both, the SP can play from GBO to GBA, and the 3DS plays DS and 3DS.

I actually prefer the ds lite when playing gba games. On the Gba sp my hands are too close together.

Maybe that's just me though.

Edit: Whoops forgot you mentioned GBC games. The games you want might end up on the 3ds eshop, also I have a gbasp 2 with the better backlight, and I bought it at gamestop for 40 bucks, why is the one you're looking at so expensive?

While you lose portability I much prefer the gameboy player for GC for playing GB,GBC, and GBA games.

Or you could just buy a GBA and get the Afterburn. Otherwise, I'd say you should buy the 3DS.

Me too, the up-scaler on a GB Player is amazing.

I already own a 3DS btw, should ahve made that clear.

Playing backlight GBC games on the go appeals to me.

They don't make Afterburner kits anymore after Lik-Sang shut down.
