My 3ds shipped today. Just curious if I can play right away? Thanks in advance

Standard is a 40% charge when you get any electronic. It's not a guarantee and you are advised to charge the device fully before initial play for maximum battery longevity. If you want to follow that, it's entirely up to you...

Except you aren't. The time when batteries needed that is long gone.

You can play as soon as it arrives without any problems.

Page 16 of the 3DS manual:

Be sure to charge the battery pack before using it for the first time or when it has not been used in the last six months.

like i said, youre advised by Nintendo. the option is yours.....

i didnt care. i turned mine on in the store after midnight release and played some SF4 with the other buyers.

Hm, wow, they still have those safeguards?

Ah well, I guess I take back half of what I said. The last part still holds perfectly true though.
