Nothing really surprises me anymore.

But I still have yet to see an explanation as to why Nintendo would go to the trouble of releasing a 2D version of a console that already does 2D as it is.

Let me know if you want to add me so I can add you. :)

The 2D version supposedly comes with a second analog stick.

Because people don't want to pay extra for a 3D feature they won't use.

So Nintendo is going to release a new revision of the 3DS that strips away the key feature, and yet ADDS a major change in the control scheme that the "pricier and more sophisticated model" would not have?

Because Sony is releasing a WiFi less PSP when you can already turn the WiFi off!

But then why would you buy a console that's all about the 3D, then turn the 3D off? The problem is probably more to do with the fact that the console looks like it's all about the 3D at first glance. Putting 3D in the name of the console didn't really help them I don't think. If it were marketed more as the next gen DS that just so happened to have 3D as one of its features, kind of like how the Vita mentions having a touch screen but doesn't call itself a PSP Touch, then the public would probably understand it better.
