I actually did get the 2-year extended warranty for my 3DS at Target (Nintendo handhelds tend to mess up on me). I'm hoping that I'm able to exploit it so I can get the redesign (though I'm wondering if they'll let me move my Ambassador games. I can lie and say I'm moving photos or something).

I might have break it on purpose and make it look accidental, too.

That's a lame thing to do.

Breaking something on purpose is something I'd rather not do, but Nintendo has no problem sucking up my money either.

So you have a problem with actually purchasing a redesigned product? ... Or am I reading that wrong...

I don't have to do anything. I want to.

At least make sure the warranty covers "accidental damage" before you do something silly.

It does.

I feel like asking an employee anonymously if it actually has to be broken, though. I want to avoid doing that.

Oh. Yeah, I do kind of have a problem with buying the same thing again just for a redesign. I skipped the original DS and waited for DS Lite and I don't plan on letting it go anytime soon.
