Maybe bugs, maybe I'm being stupid, but does the sound distort for anyone else? Like, when you grab a coin? Also Fire Flowers don't give an extra hit, I haven't played in a looong time, so I could just be forgetting, but it doesn't feel right.

Some sound and visual errors are straight from the NES versions. These are emulated and as such, they contain all of those old bugs.

Flowers do give an extra hit.

Small = one hit
Big = two hits
Flower = two hits

When you get hit as either big or with a flower you shrink. Then after that you'd die on the next hit.

Fire Flowers never gave you an extra hit in SMB. And the coin noise was always quite loud.

I knew the visual errors were from the NES, but not the sound, was it really like that? I got the game on Wii VC and it never happened (and yes, that was my first time playing, I was born late SNES era, got into video games N64 era, so I've never even actually played a real NES).

Fire Flowers never gave an extra hit in the original SMB. They do in some games (though it was actually introduced in the American version of SMB3 - the Japanese version still reverted you to small Mario when you got hit no matter what powerup you were using.)

Could have something to do with these basically amounting to Beta versions, in regards to the sound bugs.

Oh by extra hit TC meant a 3rd hit?

Disregard my above post then.

Really then? Then I guess I am just being stupid, I could've sworn they did.

As for the sound glitch it's not just the coin chime, it's whenever the music has to change, jumping, power-ups or killing an enemy, when the effect stops the music stays slightly muted for maybe 2/3s of a second. It's not BAD, but it's noticable and a little annoying and I thought it might be an emulation error, guess I was wrong.
