Ive seen some complaints on this board and besides the bashing of the free NES games we got I've seen 3DS owners complain about their D-Pad being squeaky. Mind you I too have this problem on my 3DS but I don't think its a big enough problem to warrant me returning this system.

On a side note. I remember getting my Original DS at launch and the D-Pad was the most superior of any Pad I have ever used. IMO they should of went back to that design.

I have a sqeaky D-Pad as well... which is why I just use the circle pad for almost every game I play.

But yeah, I agree, the original DS Phat had the best D-pad design. I still have mine and it works perfectly. Unlike that of my DS Lite that I traded in...

Mine doesn't squeak. It just clicks like the buttons.
May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce.

Mine used to squeak really badly. Either it's fixed itself from general use or I just don't notice it any more.

Will the squeaking stop making noise after a certain amount of time passes or usage?

I think the real problem is the material the 3DS casing and D-Pad is made of is too similar thus making the sound effect of squeaking. The ideal solution would of been to keep the glossy 3DS casing but make the D-Pad Matte so it wouldn't be plastic on plastic.

Mine squeaks also but there's nothing really wrong with it.
It's not like the buttons are sticking or anything.
I can still control the games just fine. It's easily ignored.
Probably just needs to be broke in more through regular use.
