the only place I can think of is through the AC adapter plug thing, or maybe it goes in the 3DS cart slot, idk

If it exists, probably through the card slot. That's just my guess though on something that may not exist.

it uses the microphone to emit sub-hearing level sounds to communicate controls. Maybe it whispers *move camera a little more to the left*?

Rumor I just made up: it's a special battery pack that goes on the back and has a slide pad jutting out.

This is the real answer, although I don't see how it could work.

Apparently it somehow attaches to the face buttons. Don't ask me how, i don't even have a 3ds yet. Maybe it makes more sense to those who do.

My best bet would be it either clipping on, or replacing the battery pack (like the above poster said). As for actually connecting to the system, there is an IR spot on the left side of the 3DS. Or maybe it can connect wireless like a bluetooth device.

Or...it pulls a Vita and clips on to the back of the system! :O j/k

Did no one else really think of this? It is not as if the cradle is attached to the 3DS somehow, how does the circle pad even work?

I saw a mock picture of what it is rumored to look like and if i were to guess, the only thing that makes sense to me would be the 2nd slide pad would work something like the 3ds docking station. Those two small gold plates that the docking station pins charge the 3ds might be also used to supply power to the slide pad attachment through some firmware update maybe?
