I have no problem downloading a retail 3DS game. But before I venture into that realm, my only concern is whether the digital version loads slower than the retail cart.

Does anyone have knowledge of whether Fire Emblem: Awakening, or 3DS games in general load slower when downloaded and played from the sd card?

This is really my only fear. Especially when it comes to loading a level or saving data or something like that because I plan to download Fire Emblem, and possibly Animal Crossing when that is released.

TL;DR
How do downloaded games fare performance-wise to their retail counterparts?

that depends on the sd card you get

I have New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Professor Layton digitally on the stock 4GB card that comes with the XL.

They load instantly as far as I can tell.

I think they should be about at the same size. SD cards might be a bit faster though

At one point, I had both the physical and digital version of NSMB2 at the same time. I can confirm that there's no difference between the two at all. Go digital all the way :)

I've got both digital and retail MK7 and I agree there doesn't seem to be a difference.
