One thing is true about all EO games, expect to die, alot, and you can only save at specific checkpoints

The FOEs are no longer orange balls. You see their actual 3D model when adventuring in EOIV.

And to answer your question, TC, EOIV is definitely the easiest in the series. There is a "casual" mode, but it doesn't make the game any easier, it just removes all penalty for dying.
