My brother has a normal one but he's always running out of juice on it when he's outside.

Also, I've heard some places that the battery lasts as long as a normal DSi, but I'm skeptical.

It doesn't last anywhere NEAR the DSi's battery life; even with DS games, and that's as close as it will ever get as far as longevity goes.

It lasts somewhere between 3 and 8 hours with 3DS games, and around 10 with DS games.

The XL has better battery life, but not by a significant amount. Overall though, the XL is by far the better of the two regardless and you're shooting yourself in the foot if you go with the original.

3-5 with 3DS games, at most 8 with DS games

XL is about 6 with 3DS games, up to 10 with DS games.

Is there a specific product of this that you can recommend?

Just don't buy Nyko. Their batteries for the 3DS are known for giving false readings, not charging, etc. after only a few months.

It depends on whether or not you have the 3D on. I just got an XL a few days ago (omg those large screens are so incredible compared to the original!), but when I play Style Savvy with the 3D on (it's too amazing to not have the 3D on), my XL ends up dying pretty quickly.
The battery will last significantly longer with the 3D off, but some games just NEED to be played in 3D. (KH3D is *not* one of those games, though, and that's really funny.)

But yeah, XL is the way to go. I had the original 3DS for just like a month before switching it for an XL. If you've ever played on the original, then you'll really come to appreciate the difference between them.
I am female. 21.
